POSITION SUMMARY:
- The assistant site supervisor is a part time seasonal position. The responsibilities of the Assistant Site Supervisor are listed below. At any point when the Site Supervisor is unavailable the Assistant must be prepared to fulfill the responsibilities of the Site Supervisor.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Becomes knowledgeable of all material in staff manual.
- Maintains and implements safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-rounded program in a safe, positive environment.
- Contributes ideas and suggestions for staff meetings.
- Is aware of each days planned activities.
- Learn the routine quickly and take initiative to ensure the schedule runs smoothly.
- Take initiative to make sure or assist in the set-up of day’s activities.
- Is actively involved in all aspects of the camper’s day.
- Maintains order while Site supervisor or fellow counselor are explaining or talking with the group.
- Begins activities after afternoon snack time, before the end of the day.
- Will enforce all K.E.E.P. policies and procedures.
- Will not voice difference of opinion with other staff in front of the children or their parents.
- Assures that children are never to be allowed to roam at will at the camp site or on field trips.
- Will arrive at scheduled start time.
- Observes all regulations, which pertain to you as a staff member.
- Follows and initiates correct procedures during emergency situations (disaster, medical, etc.)
- Shall treat each child with dignity and respect.
- Shall follow procedures for accident and incidents. (see procedure manual.)
- Will establish and maintain a positive liaison with parents, park staff and the community.
- Will promote the program and the park district in a positive manner.
- Understands that attendance on a 5-day basis is required. Four day workweeks are not conducive to the program or the welfare the children.

Instructors
POSITION SUMMARY: The position of Certified Red Cross Instructor is a part-time position. The Certified Red Cross Instructor is under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and provides instruction in Red Cross classes they are hired to teach.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma required
- College Degree in related field preferred
- Must possess and maintain current First Aid, CPR and AED Instructor Certification
- Must possess Babysitter’s Training Instructor Certification
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct First Aid/CPR classes with 4-12 students
- Instruct Babysitter’s Training classes with 6-12 students
- Communicate effectively with supervisor about available class dates.
- Report to class 15 minutes early to prepare/review rosters and set up for day
- Responsible for gathering all supplies and equipment needed for classes, and informing supervisor of low inventory on class items.
- Facilitate active discussion during class that keeps students interested.
- Accurately track attendance and successful completion of training by participants
- Maintains and implements safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-run program in a safe, positive environment.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the Recreation office.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Barrington Park District is seeking an energetic, experienced and passionate Tiny Cheers Head Coach to instruct children ages 5-8 years old. Applicant must be able to combine their passion for cheer with their passion for working with children to create a fun and high caliber cheer squad.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years cheerleading experience at either the high school or collegiate level
- College Degree preferred
- Teaching/Coaching Certificate is preferred
- High School Diploma Required
- Ability to teach in any given camp situation
- Must possess current CPR and First Aid
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Creating and instructing cheers for girls ages 5 – 8.
- Attending & Supervising all practices on Thursdays from 3:45 – 5:45pm from 1/16 – 3/6.
- Attending & Supervising 1-2 Saturday or Sunday Basketball Games in the months of February or March(dates and times TBD).
- At all practices, games and parades the Head Coach is in charge of supervising all participants, signing children in and out, instructing cheers/routines, communicating with all parents while keeping safety as a number one concern.
- Supervise and mentor the volunteers and assistant coaches assigned to your squad.
- Oral communication with participant’s parents.
- Check in with office staff with any questions or to receive any pertinent information.
- Responsible for gathering all supplies and equipment needed for weekly activities and bring them to practice.
- Maintain and implements safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-rounded program in a safe, positive environment.
- Will attend all scheduled trainings and meetings as deemed necessary by the Recreation Supervisor. (Failure to attend meetings could result in loss of position.)
- Will enforce all Youth Cheerleading policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older with experience in the field (poms or dance).
- Minimum two years’ experience with children, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ability to teach a variety of levels in a group setting.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and problem solve.
- Must possess the ability to work with youth and their parents and adults.
- Must possess the ability to choose appropriate music and choreography for poms area performances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and teach an All-Star Poms routine including choreography and music for the Tiny (ages 3.5-5 years) Mini (ages 6-8 years), Youth (9-11 years old) and Elite (8-12 years old) Poms Squads.
- Co-Coach all practices and choreography camp during the week and weekends (when necessary).
- Attend local competitions for all squads (3-5 per season). Attend local performances (3 per season).
- Must be able to respond to and handle children’s behaviors in a positive and appropriate manner.
- Attend and assist Recreation Supervisor with parent meeting at the beginning of each new season.
- Work closely with the assistant coach and Recreation Supervisor
- Maintain and implement safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-rounded program in a safe, positive environment.
HOURS:
- Tiny Practice: Tuesdays, 11/7/23 – 5/21/24 from 4:30 – 5:30pm
- Mini Practice: Thursdays, 11/2/23 – 5/23/24 from 4:00 – 5:15pm
- Youth Practice: Thursdays, 11/2/23 – 5/23/24 from 5:15 – 6:30pm
- Competitions: 3-5 local performances and the annual dance recital in May.
- Extra Practices: Friday evenings as necessary before performances and choreography camp (dates TBD).

- Develop and prepare a plan of dance focused activities suited for ages and abilities of the class while maintaining organized class structure.
- Choreograph, plan and implement spring recital and holiday dance show annually.
- Ability to communicate directions and skills to the level of the class.
- Organize and supervise specific activities for the skill that is being taught.
- Deliver quality customer service (to patrons and parents) at all times.

Athletics
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is a seasonal position (November 1st – March 28th). The primary function of the position is to provide a level of security and staff presence during open play hours at Barrington Park District Gymnasiums. Under the supervision of the Athletic Supervisor, the Open Gym Attendant will monitor the gym during open play hours, ensuring that all patrons are following the rules. This person will be responsible for contacting the proper personnel in case of emergencies.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 21 years of age or older preferred.
- High School Graduate preferred
- Possess a valid Illinois Driver’s license
- Must be able to speak fluent English
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure that all patrons are following the rules in place for open play
- Patrons are expected to be courteous and polite, swearing is not tolerated
- Renders First Aid, CPR, and/or other emergency assistance as necessary
- Prepares and maintains required records and reports (incident reports)
- Ensure that patrons of all ages are sharing courts, and being courteous to one another
- Cell phones are not to be used for any reason while on duty
- Must be at work at least 5 minutes before shift is to start
- Must wear a Park District supplied shirt at all times while on duty
- Responsible for making sure all garbage is cleaned up and all basketballs are returned to the ball bin at the end of the night.

Fitness Center
FULL FITNESS MEMBERSHIP INCLUDED!
POSITION SUMMARY: The Barrington Park District is looking for world-class Group Fitness Instructors to join our fitness team. The Group Fitness Instructor delivers an empowering, motivational, engaging, educational, and professional Group Fitness experience to ensure a successful class for patrons while keeping them motivated and inspired.
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for teaching a balanced Group Fitness class for participants of all fitness levels and abilities, cueing progressions, regressions, proper form and educating patrons on appropriate breathing principles and safe transitioning techniques. The Group Fitness Instructor should be comfortable designing lesson plans and teaching different formats of Group Exercise that use 32-count music and a variety of implements, such as lightweight barbells, dumbbells, stability balls, bands, steps and sliders.
The position of Group Fitness Instructor is a part-time position and under the direct supervision of the Health & Fitness Manager. The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for creating, implementing the proper format, demonstrating and reinforcing proper form for fitness classes using energetic, positive, motivating techniques.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma required
- Primary Group Fitness certification
- Group Fitness certification or similar training
- Must have and maintain current certification in Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid within 3 months of hire
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Fitness Instructor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement a proper class plan.
- Assist with development of marketing strategies, promotional materials, prepare and review brochure copy for fitness programs, and promote class on personal social media and/or word of mouth
- Provide leadership and guidance to participants regarding proper form and skill
- Arrive for class 15 minutes early to prepare/review rosters, set up and/or music, answer participant questions and learn about limitations, develop professional rapport and relationships with participants
- Stay 15 minutes after class to clean up, answer participant questions and motivate participants to return
- Teach all classes to the ability level of the participants
- Provide clear and concise cues, changing wording and gestures as needed ensuring understanding and success of participants
- Maintain a professional manner through proper attire, attitude and aptitude
- Communicate with the participants, fitness desk and manager regarding any changes for the class
- Locate and maintain a sub and seek approval for subs from the manager
- Sub classes for other instructors who teach similar formats
- Immediately report any problems or repairs of equipment to the Health & Fitness Manager
- Request supplies as needed for class with adequate allowance for timely delivery
- Accurately track attendance of all participants
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules
- Enforce safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior
- Be prepared to perform CPR or First Aid if required
- Follow all procedures and guidelines as presented in the policy manual
- Attend staff training and risk management sessions
- Maintain current certifications through continuing education

- Provide membership information for new patrons and complete the registration process
- Answer the phone and respond to caller’s questions. Direct calls to other departments when appropriate.
- Conduct equipment orientation for new participants
- Complete the assigned equipment checks and cleaning procedures and schedule daily
- Maintain a neat and orderly facility with a continuous focus on safety
- Maintain the necessary forms and manuals, including training schedules, updating participant rosters and entering daily class counts
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Health & Fitness Manager
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Frequent standing, squatting, bending, sitting, walking, reaching and kneeling
- Requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
HOURS: Monday/Tuesday 3:00pm -9 :00pm PLUS a rotating weekend shift: Saturday 6:30am – 12:00pm, OR 12:00pm – 4:00pm OR Sunday 6:30am– 12:00pm AND occasional shift trades/covers with other Fitness Attendants
PAY RATE: Starts at $14.00 per hour, increases based on experience. Full fitness membership is included.

POSITION SUMMARY:The position of Personal Trainer is part-time and under the direct supervision of the Health & Fitness Manager. The Personal Trainer is responsible for working one-on-one or in a group with an individual providing education, motivation, encouragement, and a well-balanced, functional exercise program. The Personal Trainer will provide encouragement and motivation to all participants in the Fitness Center. He/she is responsible for the supervision of the Fitness Center members using strength and aerobic equipment. The Personal Trainer needs to be flexible and be able to execute various tasks in the Fitness Center.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- National Certification required from one or more of the following:
American Council on Exercise (ACE)
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)
International Sports Science Association (ISSA)
National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA)
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA)
- Bachelor Degree in exercise science, physiology, athletic training, physical education, anatomy or kinesiology is preferred
- Group Training Instructor specialization is preferred
- Must be trained in the proper use of all Barrington Park District strength and aerobic equipment in the Fitness Center
- Must maintain current Certification for Personal Training (and specialization certifications if applicable)
- Current Red Cross CPR, First Aid and AED within 3 months of hire
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maximum of 5 hours a week of floor time
- Schedule all Personal Training appointments per procedure
- Confirm all Personal Training appointments for the next business day
- Contact new clients within 24 hours after assigned by Health & Fitness Manager
- Administer Health Assessment/Strength and Flexibility testing
- Lead safe, effective and motivating group training classes that educate clients and promote a sense of community
- Sub group classes for fellow personal trainer team members and group fitness instructors
- Assist with all Floor Training responsibilities listed below:
Supervise Fitness Center members on the use of the strength and aerobic equipment
Greet members
Maintain a neat and orderly facility
Confirm Personal Training appointments for the next business day
Maintain necessary forms and manuals, including schedule forms, exercise logs, and training schedules
Maintain personal training files in client folders and store in Fitness Center per procedure
Conduct new member orientations and Fit Teen orientations
Sub Team Training classes as needed and Group Exercise classes if qualified to teach
Assist other Personal Trainers if help is needed
Attend all mandatory staff meetings
- Complete the assigned equipment cleaning procedures
- Be punctual and prepared for each Personal Training session
- Review PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) for each client and store in designated, secure location in Fitness Center
- Follow all procedures and guidelines as presented in the policy manual
- Wear proper uniform while training
- Attend staff training and/or staff development sessions
- Attend special Fitness Center events
- Provide fitness challenges, trainer tips and other newsletter entries
- Create and lead educational and interactive workshops for patrons and/or staff
- Perform any other duties, as assigned by Health and Fitness Manager

SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT:
- Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
- Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan
- Attend professional educational and safety trainings
- Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
- Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor
- Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
- Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor
- Requires frequent, standing, bending, sitting, walking, reaching, kneeling
- Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Requires ability to speak at a level loud enough to be heard over music
- Must wear a Barrington Park District shirt or ID at all times

POSITION SUMMARY: The Barrington Park District is looking for world-class Barre Instructors to join our fitness team. The Barre Instructor delivers an empowering, motivational, engaging, educational, and professional Barre experience to ensure a successful class for patrons while keeping them motivated and inspired. The Barre Instructor is responsible for teaching a balanced Barre class for participants of all fitness levels and abilities, cueing progressions, regressions, proper form and educating patrons on appropriate breathing principles and safe transitioning techniques. The position of Barre Instructor is a part-time position and under the direct supervision of the Health & Fitness Manager. The Barre Instructor is responsible for creating, implementing the proper format, demonstrating and reinforcing proper form for fitness classes using energetic, positive, motivating techniques.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma required
- Primary Group Fitness certification
- Barre certification or similar training
- Must have and maintain current certification in Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid within 3 months of hire
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Fitness Instructor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement a proper class plan.
- Assist with development of marketing strategies, promotional materials, prepare and review brochure copy for fitness programs, and promote class on personal social media and/or word of mouth
- Provide leadership and guidance to participants regarding proper form and skill
- Arrive for class 15 minutes early to prepare/review rosters, set up and/or music, answer participant questions and learn about limitations, develop rapport and relationships with participants
- Stay 15 minutes after class to clean up, answer participant questions and motivate participants to return
- Teach all classes to the ability level of the participants
- Maintain a professional manner through proper attire, attitude and aptitude
- Communicate with the participants, fitness desk and manager regarding any changes for the class
- Locate and maintain a sub and seek approval for subs from the manager
- Immediately report any problems or repairs of equipment to the Health & Fitness Manager
- Request supplies as needed for class with adequate allowance for timely delivery
- Accurately track attendance of all participants
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules
- Enforce safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior
- Be prepared to perform CPR or First Aid if required
- Follow all procedures and guidelines as presented in the policy manual
- Attend staff training and risk management sessions
- Maintain current certifications through continuing education
HOURS:
- Classes are scheduled during Fitness Center Hours, Tuesdays: 9:15 – 10:15am
PAY RATE:
- Starts at $20.00 per hour
