What are we doing to help keep you safe?
Important COVID Information as of February 7, 2022
Park Districts are a separate governmental agency, therefore the School District’s Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued on Friday, February 4, DOES NOT apply to any Park District.
The guidelines the Barrington Park District follows are issued by Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Lake County Health Department (LCHD).
We are still mandated to:
- wear masks while inside facilities (including programs that take place in District 220 schools such as K.E.E.P. and Basketball)
- social distance
- report and quarantine unvaccinated close contacts.
We will adjust mandates related to recreation as soon as they are relayed to us by IDPH and LCHD.
Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Jodi Krause, Superintendent of Recreation at jkrause@barringtonparkdistrict.org or Terry Jennings, Executive Director at tjennings@barringtonparkdistrict.org.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Masks and Face Coverings
Face masks MUST be worn by everyone 2 years and older while in this facility.
Face masks MUST be worn properly covering your nose and mouth.
Patrons that do not follow this mandate will be asked to leave the facility.
Our main priority is the health and safety of our patrons and staff. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to these rules.
Social Distancing & Group Sizes
A minimum of 6-ft of social distancing is required at our indoor and outdoor facilities. Our programs have been adjusted by reducing class sizes, altering activities and staggering start times. Signage at parks and facilities and messaging on our website encourages social distancing at group size and capacity limits.
Hand Washing & Sanitizing
Staff and visitors are recommended to wash hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the restroom, before eating, and after blowing their nose, coughing or sneezing. Hands free sanitizer stations are available throughout our facilities.
Cleaning & Common Areas
In addition to regular maintenance, the Park District has enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures for frequently touched objects and surfaces throughout the day. Cleaning and disinfecting before and after each class is conducted in compliance with CDC protocols.
How You Can Help Keep Yourself & Others Safe
If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, have a fever or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please stay home and protect other participants, visitors and staff. Avoid contact with others that are sick or experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms. Use proper cough and sneeze etiquette. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
We are watching and evaluating IDPH, DCEO Restore Illinois Guidance, CDC and our Park & Recreation Risk Management Association for changes to COVID-19 restrictions. As guidelines are relaxed or updated we will continue to update the program offerings and capacities along with the limitations we are adhering to in order to keep our patrons and staff healthy.
